What are the reasons for the slow customs clearance

There may be many reasons for the slow clearance of goods, and the following are some of the main reasons:

1. Customs spot checks: The Customs may conduct random spot checks on imported goods to ensure the legality and safety of the goods. If goods are randomly checked, they need to wait for customs to complete the inspection, which usually adds to the clearance time. Generally speaking, customs spot checks may take 1-3 working days to wait.

2. Declaration problem: inconsistent declaration value: If the customs believes that the declared value of the goods is not consistent with the actual value, whether it is too high or too low, it may lead to delays in customs clearance. At this point, the seller may have to redeclare and may even face fines.

3. Commercial invoice problems: The information on the commercial invoice needs to be accurate. If the name is not detailed or wrong, the sender may need to provide a new commercial invoice and re-declare, thus affecting the speed of customs clearance.

4. Recipient problem: If the recipient information is wrong or the recipient cannot be contacted during the holiday, it may lead to the failure to confirm the customs clearance information or the customs duty payment problem, and then delay the customs clearance.

5. Customs issues: If the goods have customs duties at the destination, and the recipient refuses to pay or does not have time to pay the customs duties, it may also lead to delays in customs clearance.

6. Involving contraband: If the goods contain products prohibited by the destination country, it will be more complicated to deal with, which may lead to greatly reduced customs clearance speed.

7. Logistics facilities and equipment problems: such as the lagging construction of urban roads, Bridges and other infrastructure, or outdated storage equipment, may affect logistics efficiency and indirectly lead to slower customs clearance.

8. Customs efficiency and service quality: Although customs staff will do their best to complete customs clearance procedures quickly and accurately, work efficiency and service quality may still affect the speed of clearance. However, with the application of intelligent auxiliary tools, such as intelligent customs clearance system, self-inspection, etc., customs clearance efficiency has been gradually improved.

In order to speed up the customs clearance of goods, it is recommended to prepare all necessary documents and information in advance, ensure that the declaration is accurate, and communicate and cooperate with customs, logistics companies and other relevant parties in a timely manner.
